Playday General Information

 

·        Playdays will consist of Barrels, Poles and Flags for all ages, and occasionally roping and goat tying may be available. 

·        There will be a $3.00 fee per Event, per Person

·        Sign-ups will begin 1 hour prior to start time.  No one will be allowed to enter after the event begins.

·        No refunds will be given once the Playday starts.  The only exception will be rain-outs, in which the entry fees will be carried over to the next Playday for events that were not run.  The money will be carried over towards the next playday events.  Events rained out will not be made up. In the event a playday is completely rained out; it is each person’s responsibility to find out when the make up date will be.  It could be the following day, the following weekend, or later in the year.

 

Exhibitions

 

·        Exhibitions will be $1.00 per person, per event.

·        Exhibitions will be available after each event to the first 50 riders signed up.

 

Cavalcade and Fair Tryouts

 

·        You must be a member of the ORUC by March 27, 2010 to be eligible to tryout for Cavalcade or the Tulsa State Fair.

 

·        Cavalcade Tryout Dates will be:

                  March 27, 2010

                  April 3, 2010

                  April 17, 2010

                  May 15, 2010

            Providing weather permits, we will average the best 3 times.

 

·        Tulsa State Fair Tryouts will be:

                  May 15, 2010

                  June 19, 2010

                  July 31, 2010

            Providing weather permits, we will average the best 2 times.

 

General Rules

 

1.      Horses entering the round-up club grounds will be randomly checked for current Coggins papers.  If you do not have them, you will not be permitted to enter the grounds.

2.      All contestants must compete in their own age group. Age is determined as of January 1, 2010.

3.      To accumulate points for end of the year awards, one must be a paid ORUC member, and participate in at least 50% of the Playdays. 

4.      The riders in the six (6) and under age group that have help riding in an event, will be placed below the riders that do not have any help competing.  If the rider in the six (6) and under age group crosses over the timing line before completing their event, they will be given a time, but they must complete their pattern.  If they fail to make their pattern complete, then that will result in a no time.

5.      All contestants are required to read rules.  If you don’t understand the rules please ask one of the Playday Coordinators.  Failure to understand the rules is not an excuse.

6.      Any complaints and or problems must be made to the Playday Coordinator the day of the Playday.  The Playday Coordinator will settle all decisions of such matter. Remember everyone is here to have fun and a good time, so good luck to all!

 

Prizes will be awarded on high point accumulation at the end of the season for each age group. Ribbons will be awarded for the top five- (5) places in the 18 and younger age groups only. Point System: 1st Place 5 points2nd Place 4 points3rd Place 3 points4th Place 2 points5th Place 1 pointAll participants will receive one (1) participation point per event they compete in.

 

Age Groups: 0 – 6, 7 – 12, 13 –18, 19 and Over

 

Events include: Barrels, Poles, and Flags.  Some playdays may includes events such as: Breakaway Roping, Goat Tying, and other special events.

Remember this is a family and friends get together to have fun with our family and friends so please no alcoholic beveragesAND LETS ENJOY EVERYONES COMPANY.

 

BARRELS: Rider must enter arena gate on West End of the arena. The rider must cross the timing line, complete a clover leaf pattern and finish with crossing the timer line again. Rider may choose to run to the right or left barrel first, just as long as a cloverleaf pattern is completed. A five (5) second penalty per barrel will be added to the completed time if the barrels are knocked over. Failure to complete the correct cloverleaf pattern will result in a no time. If the rider in the 0 –6 age group crosses over the timer line on the first or second barrel they will be given a time, but they still have to complete the clover leaf pattern around all three (3) barrels. If they fail to make the clover leaf pattern then that will result in a no time. The 0-6 age group will have a smaller barrel pattern.

 

FLAGS: A barrel will be placed in the center of the arena approximately 100-ft. from the timer line. A bucket of some sort, half full of dirt shall be placed on the top of the barrel as a depository for the flag. The time will start when rider crosses the timer line to start their run to go pick up the flag that is placed in the can on the barrel. Rider will be disqualified if they hit the horse with the flag, drop the flag before they cross the timer line, or fail to pick up the flag before they cross the timer line. Rider will be given a five (5) second penalty for knocking over the barrel.

 

POLES: The rider shall have their choice of the side on which to pass the first pole. Six (6) poles shall be placed 21-ft. Apart in a straight line down the approximate center of the arena, the first pole 21-ft. from the timer line. The rider shall cross the timing line, ride in an approximately in a straight line to the last pole (pole 6), make a 180 degree turn around pole six and bend through the poles to pole one, circle pole one, bend through the poles to pole six, make a 180 degree turnaround pole six and straight back down to the timer line on the opposite side of the poles that they started on. Rider will not be allowed to run out of the arena gate. Failure to complete a correct pattern will result in a no time, except for the riders in the 0 –6 age group for crossing over the timer line on the end pole, they will not be flagged out and still will be given a time, but if they break the pole pattern this will result in a no time. Riders who knock over a pole will be given a five (5) second penalty for each pole knocked over.

 

BREAKAWAY ROPING: This is a timed event with a one (1) minute limit. Time will start when calf leaves the chute. Flagman will drop the flag when the string on the horn breaks away from the horn. The rider shall receive a no time if the rider breaks the string from the horn by use of hand or touching the rope after the catch is made. If rope dallies and will not break free when the calf reaches the end of the rope, the rider receives a no time. One rope is to be tied to the saddle horn by a heavy string.  The breakaway string will be provided.
